Low Income Tax Reduction

  • The low income tax reduction is a provincial personal income tax reduction for low income individuals and families.
  • For the 2010 taxation year, the program will eliminate provincial income tax for individuals with net income up to $16,022 or for families with net income up to $26,811. Partial tax reductions will be received by individuals with net income up to $19,535 or for families with net income up to $32,086.
  • For the 2011 taxation year, the program will eliminate provincial income tax for individuals with net income up to $16,343 or for families with net income up to $27,348. Partial tax reductions will be received by individuals with net income up to $19,918 or for families with net income up to $32,723.
  • The Low Income Tax Reduction income thresholds are increased annually utilizing the provincial Consumer Price Index.
