Public Service Pension Plan - Pension Estimator
The accrual rate for pension benefits paid to plan members before age 65 is
2% for each year of credited service. However, certain employers paid a reduced
matching share of contributions during the period April 1, 1993 to March 31,
1996, to meet Government's budgetary objectives. The accrual rate for plan
members with these employers would have been reduced during these years. Plan
members who paid the difference in the employer contribution, or who worked for
an exempt employer, will have no reduction in their accrual rates.

1993-94
The following employers were exempt from the reduced accrual initiative for
the year 1993-94:
- Newfoundland Association of Public Employees
- Council of Nursing Assistants
- City of St. John’s
- Public Service Credit Union
- Janeway Northwest Rotary Versa Food Services
- Sisters of Mercy Residence
- Newfoundland Teachers’ Association
- St. John’s Fire Department
- Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (Management not excluded)
