The Government Accounting Division develops financial and accounting procedures and policies, maintains the books of the Province, administers applicable legislation and policy to ensure adequate controls over all revenues, expenditures, assets and liabilities and prepares the provincial financial statements and related financial reports. To accomplish this, the Division has four distinct sections as follows:
Provide policy direction, accounting and security services over all forms of Government payments, accounts payable records, arrears processing, third party assignments and cheque replacements.
Maintain the books of account, prepare the Public Accounts of the Province, conduct financial analysis of actual results and record and report tangible capital asset information; monitor, manage and coordinate Government - wide banking products and services; perform trust and special purpose accounting; provide policy guidance to ensure adherence to required accounting and reporting standards, the Financial Administration Act and other legislation.
Provide policy guidance and development; receipting, revenue accounting, credit card and web based receipting, and electronic banking management services to all Departments of Government, employees and the public; provide all users with timely and reliable information; and to ensure adherence to related legislation, agreements and policy; provide transactional processing services to government departments for Accounts Receivable, including invoice and statement generation and issuance.
Through the application of transactions-based post audit compliance procedures, provide assurance that disbursements meet legislative, policy and control objectives.
