The Department of Finance is responsible for providing strategic leadership across the public service on the financial and economic implications of its policy decisions; overseeing the management and control of provincial finances to ensure appropriate use of public funds; and providing centralized and corporate shared services to other government departments (e.g. economic analysis, statistical services, and the administration of such things as compensation and benefits, internal audit services and payment processing).
